New calling at church

I was called to be the Relief Society President again. For those who don't know what Relief Society is, it is a women's organization at church. There are between 50-90 women depending on what semester at school it is. It is a married student ward so they are all between ages 18 and about 26 (most are closer to 18). There are two 26 year old, one being me. I think bishops just like that I am old and have been on a mission. They assume that wisdom and spirituality comes with those credentials. Ha ha. I am excited about it though. I enjoyed being RS President in my last ward. I am a little reserved so it forces me to get out of my comfort zone and stretch and plus I make lots of friends.

I married a genius

Nate got strait A's again this semester. It is nice he is getting such good grades now because some of the PT schools that he is applying to are willing to look at just the last two years of college if you want them to, so better chances of getting in. Not that he would have a problem.

Some interesting finds

We have a garden that we share with Paul and Paula, and I found these wierd carrots today. I love having a garden. Veggies just taste better right out of the ground or off the vine. We grow carrots, green beans, potatoes, corn, cucumber, radishes, zuchini, watermelon, canteloupe, and onions. Paula use to work for the lady that is sharing the land with us. It was too much for just one family.

Car Seats & Arizona

Do any of you moms out there have any recommendations or warnings about toddler car seats? It is about time for Tanner to move up to a bigger one, but it is overwhelming to try and find a good one that is reasonably priced. Please help me! I am thinking a convertible one, but don't know if it is necessary.

Off to Arizona

The semester is done--pretty sure Nate did awesome, probably strait A's again. So, we get to leave tomorrow for our Arizona trip, and we are pretty excited. I will get to see Nate for a good 6 days uninterupted. That has been pretty much unheard of since, well, I can't remember when, so I am excited.


As soon as we get back he will start shadowing a physical therapist here in Rexburg in the mornings and working in the afternoon, so we'll be back to seeing each other only a couple hours a day. Oh well, that's life. I better get used to it. But I guess the PT does some prosthetics too, so it is exactly what Nate wants to see. Should be good. We'll check out University of Utah while we are in Salt Lake tomorrow to see what their program is like.

2 Weeks Notice

I am quitting my job! I have been wanting to for a while, and now I have a good reason. My sister Tracie watched Tanner when I worked and now she is going back to Oregon so I don't have one anymore, at least not one I can count on to always do it. I hate looking around for one and getting turned down. I was only working 5 hours a week anyway, so not a big loss.

"Spray Park Sickness"

As I walked out of the grocery store today I got a glimps of today's newspaper; the top story was "Spray Park Sickness." I stopped and read the article, and it said that E. Coli was in the water and had been possibly since the beginning of June. Several kids have been sick. Tanner loves the Spray Park and as you can see he likes to drink the water. I haven't researched E. Coli much, but Nate took a Microbiology last semester and recalled that the diarrhea and fever that Tanner had for over a week back in June could have been it. Yikes. They swear the problem is solved though.

4th of July Party

Since Nate was working all day on his birthday we had a party on the 4th. Oops no picture of the birthday boy. Suzanne and friends had just got back from camping and rafting.
We watched fireworks from our apartment this year and I was glad to avoid traffic. We watched Mercury Rising last night and it was pretty good.

Nate has had the pillow case on the left for 6 or 7 years, and as you can see it is time for a new one. He likes the satiny kind so I made him one. I couldn't find them in stores. It only cost me 70 cents. Yeah!

4th of July Parade

We had a good time, but it was hot. There was a truck that sprayed the audience and it wasn't just a sprinkle we got soaked, as you can see Tanner wasn't thrilled about it.

Can you imagine going a couple miles like this? They must have nice thighs.

The best part was the candy, chocolate milk, and bagle, oh and the coupons that were handed out. Not a bad parade. Lots of tractors and motorcycles and stuff you'd only see in a hick town though. There was a group of guys with mullets that walked down the parade with "Vote for Me" signs. I guess there is a mullet competition in town. It was entertaining though.

Sick!

Don't know what was wrong with Tanner, but he threw up so much last night. Ate too much maybe. He didn't act sick besides the puke. Lucky me, he was sitting on my lap.

Oh and do you see the bruise on my elbow? I got my pants caught on this little thing in the car door and fell on my butt. Tanner was in my arms. It scared him. And my bum was bruised too.

An exciting discovery

Tanner found the little door stoppers behind EVERY door in the house. He loves to make noise with them. Our poor downstairs neighbors.

Happy Birthday to ME!

It was really just another day for me though. Nate was gone til 6ish then we went to Cold Stone for ice cream. My lovely sister Tracie got me a gift card for the place. Got the biggest one of the birthday kind. Don't know all the technical Cold Stone terms, dilectable (like Nate would say). Then we went to Jordan's flag football game, which I think he won. We didn't stay cuz Tanner was sleepy. I am excited to buy myself some new clothes with some birthday money I got from Mom & Dad. I desperately need some. I am 26 by the way.

Yay Tanner!...I think

Here is a video of Tanner crawling. He's already gotten into the trash, stuck under a chair, and tried to squeeze next to the fridge where he saw my mop and broom. I don't know if I like this crawling business.

Babysitting and Crawling

I babysat for a friend today, and it was actually fun. I was nervous because Tanner can be so demanding but he did really well. Liked to play with Kaylee, and for the most part played nice. He started crawling today. He did it once like it was nothing, he had no fear. Then I tried to get him to do it again and he was a little more hesitant. In a couple days I am sure he will be all over the place. Kaylee is really cute. She loved to touch Tanner and she was so gentle, then Tanner would try and rip out her bow. Bratty boy!

Ok, these guys are my new favorite band right now. Nate and I went to their concert last night. I've always liked them but they were amazing in concert. So entertaining.

Gut busting cough

So, last night I was coming out of Albertsons and putting the groceries away. The car next to me was pulling out, and I had the urge to cough (coughing and laughing are a painful after gall bladder surgery). I must have looked like I was getting ready to hurl or have a seizure or something because I was trying to hold in the coughs. I was bent over into my car, and I am sure I was making a weird face and noises. Then, I started to hold my stomach because if I push on it a little when I am coughing it doesn't hurt quite as bad. I saw the car stop behind my car and stare with concern. I acted normal after I got it out and the guy just smiled politely like he didn't see anything, but the wife looked horrified. And they drove off. I felt dumb, and sore.

Surgery Update

Surgery went well yesterday. I am sore today and can't pick up Tanner, which is sad, but I get around pretty good. Poor Nate was taking care of both Tanner and me yesterday. Tanner was sick all day yesterday and the night before. He wouldn't eat anything, had a fever, and still has diarrhea real bad. Nate had to change the diapers all day. He's a trooper, and no complaining from him. Nate has been so helpful. I think I have been taking him for granted. Takes something like surgery to realize how much I need him and appreciate him. He's such a good husband. And my family is great too. My sister, Tracie, and sister-in-law, Paula, have been taking turns taking care of me (more like Tanner), and my brother, Paul, is coming soon to take his turn. I am treating myself to Dreyers Loaded Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream for dinner tonight. I can only eat clear liquids and soft dairy products today. I can add grains tomorrow. Can't wait!

Tanner looks so chunky here. I went for his 9 month checkup and he is nearly 20 pounds, putting him at the 50th percentile. We went to the water park to play with Paula and the kids she babysits. Tanner used to scream if we even got near it, but he has warmed up to it and likes it ok now.
