Nate got strait A's on his mid term report. He's doing an awesome job balancing everything--full-time school, full-time job, and family. What a hard worker!

Funny Story

Well now i can say it is funny; it was pretty sad when it happened.
Tanner likes to put his hands all over my face and in my mouth if I let him. Well, yesterday I was nipping at his fingers with my lips and I accidentally bit his finger. His eyes got big, then is face scrunched up, and he started to scream. Nate asked what was wrong and I said, "Oh I think I startled him." I couldn't believe I bit my baby! I had to give him to Nate because he couldn't even look at me without tearing up. Later, I told Nate that I bit Tanner. He just laughed and brought up how last year when we were visiting Kristin and Will, Nate accidentally bit Jason and didn't say anything. Just passed him off to someone else and played like Jason just didn't like him. Well, the truth is out.

New booster seat

We got Tanner a booster seat since he's starting to eat a little. He loves to sit in it. He isn't taking to food very well yet, so we sit him in his chair when we eat so he'll at least associate his chair with eating.

Help!

Does anyone have any tips on giving babies medicine??? I used the syringe that they gave me at the pharmacy and he spit out 3 doses the way I was doing it, which was just shooting it in his mouth too the side and as far back as possible. Experienced moms please help! By the way, he has bronchitis. Poor kid! Poor me too, he woke up 4 times last night coughing and crying.

Every time I pick Tanner up he grabs my hair, opens his mouth, and sucks on anything he can. Usually my chin is the easiest to grab. We think it is his version of a kiss. It is really pretty gross, they are very slimey kisses. We hope he isn't this agressive with girls when he gets older. :)

I know it is kind of late for Christmas stuff

. . . but this was pretty cute. My sister-in-law, Paula, brought this back from Washington and wanted to try it on Tanner. It was given to her for her baby that is due in September.

Noise Maker

Here are a couple of videos of Tanner making lots of noise. Sometimes we have to turn the TV up, or take him out of church meetings because he can be so loud. It should be interesting to see what kind of toddler he will be. I imagine a loud and active one.


He can also be very sweet--usually when he is sleeping.

Blessing

The other day I was thinking it would be nice to have a little job I could do from home, so I started looking on the internet. All I could find were a lot of odd jobs that appeared too good to be true--and I am sure they were, so I didn't even want try. So, discouraged, I just prayed, "Please help me find something I can do. . .if it by thy will." Yesterday, I went to visit my boss that I worked for at the BYU-I Writing Center (we are really good friends), and I also chatted with a former co-worker. He asked if I would be interested in taking over one of his little side jobs of grading high school seniors' English papers. I would get paid a couple hundred dollars per stack of papers he said. So of course I said, "Yes!!! I would love to!" It will only be a few times per year, but I am sure that will be all the bad writing I can handle. I'll try to not be too hard on the kids. Anyway, another prayer answered, and I am so grateful and excited.

Tanner got himself into an jam. I didn't see him do it but I heard him grunting trying to get out of it. He is starting to arch his back to see things above his head. It is annoying on the changing table.

Tanner Finally Slept Through the Night

It only took him 5 months to do! (i'm being sarcastic) Almost everyone I know says that their baby has slept through the night since 2 or 3 months old. For a long time he was sleeping a good 6 hour stretch and getting up just once to eat, but last night it was 9:30-6:30! The trick was to feed him more during the day. He is amost completely on formula now so I can make sure he is getting full feedings. Anyway, just wanted to share our excitement.

This shirt is size 12 months (he's going on 5 months). He doesn't fill it out but it is just the right length. I'm afraid he will never fit his clothes just right.

Tanner isn't feeling well. He's had a cold and he got his shots yesterday. He's had a fever ever since he got poked. Poor kid. He looks like a sad puppy.

Tanner talkin'

These aren't quite his first words, but it's a start. He got his four month shots today and took it well. The nurses came in and got so many giggles and smiles out of him, then before he knew what hit him...they stabbed him in the leg with 3 shots. Not many smiles after that, but he didn't cry long. He didn't want to talk about it much either.

Christmas

News

Nate got a job as a supervisor at the Rexburg Opinion Center. He started as a phone surveyor and moved up to a monitor, and now supervisor. He got a pay raise and nice benefits. We are pretty excited, but it is full time so not as much family time. :( He'll work 2-10 p.m. five days a week, and do full time school in the morning. We'll get use to it. Plenty of people have done it. So can we.

Paul & Paula came over for family night and we made houses. I dont want to eat them, they're so cute.

Tanner's aunt Kris made him this cute hat. He wore it for the first time last night at Kelly's work party. We went on a wagon ride at Mt. River Ranch and had an amazing dinner of prime rib.

Tanner's aunt Tracie bought him this pacifier. It's pretty hilareous. He doesn't take a pacifier very much though.

Tanner used to hate lying on his stomach, but we have been putting him on it more so he can exercise his neck muscles. He is learning to like it, and is getting strong. He prefers to sit proped against a pillow or in someone's lap than lying on the floor now

Tanner still has a hard time holding up his head. It just sort of wobbles around, and since it is so heavy, his whole body goes with it. He tries so hard though.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving. It was nice to be as a family for 4 whole days!!! We don't get that very often. We went to Paul and Paula's house for dinner and games. We are addicted to the game Sequence. We played it over and over. Last year we started a tradition of going bowling every Thanksgiving, so we went this year. Tracie came with us, she's an amazing bowler--thanks to her 3 semesters of bowling classes. Tanner and Kelly were sick with colds all weekend, but we still had a good time. Kelly made an amazing pumpkin cheese cake with a maple pecan glaze. Nate thinks she needs to sell it and make money. We got all our Christmas shopping done this weekend too. We were together the whole time so there are no suprised gifts for us.
